Quebec voters are casting ballots in a provincial election that polls suggest will bring the separatist Parti Québécois back to government after more than a decade out of power.
The party has pledged to hold a referendum on independence from Canada by 2028, putting the province’s political future at the center of its bid for office.
A victory would return the separatist movement to power in Canada’s French-speaking province, which has roughly nine million residents.
