Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores indicted over alleged torture conspiracy

Ousted Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been indicted on allegations of conspiring to torture US citizens, according to The Guardian.

The superseding indictment was made public Thursday in Manhattan federal court, shortly before Flores appeared for a hearing as part of her effort to secure release before trial.

Judge Alvin Hellerstein denied her request. Maduro and Flores have remained in a New York City jail since early January.
