The Chestnut Post

How we use AI

Our articles are AI-written summaries of other publishers’ reporting—not firsthand reporting by a human newsroom.

From source to summary

Every 15 minutes, our system checks public news feeds for new items. AI uses a source’s headline and short feed description to produce a headline, brief summary, and section assignment. It does not routinely read the complete source article.

The AI is instructed to write in its own words, stay neutral, and not invent facts, quotes, names, or numbers. Every published summary names the source and links to its original story.

Automatic publishing

Summaries are published automatically, up to two new stories per check, without individual human review before publication. “AI-written summary” is a disclosure of this process, not the name of a human author. Publication times indicate when a summary appeared on our site, not necessarily when the original event occurred.

AI-generated imagery

Article images are generated illustrations based on the story’s headline and section. They are not photographs from the scene and should not be treated as evidence that a person, place, or event looked as depicted. If a new image cannot be generated, a section illustration may be used instead.

Accuracy and limitations

AI can misunderstand source material, leave out context, or produce errors despite these instructions. A short feed description may not capture the full story, and news can change after a summary is published. Our summaries are not independently fact-checked and should not replace the original reporting.
