Isaias leaves nearly 396,000 without power in Florida and Alabama

Nearly 396,000 customers in the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama were still without electricity Sunday as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias headed north. At least four deaths have been linked to the storm.

Moderate to heavy rain spread across the central Appalachians and mid-Atlantic region. The National Weather Service warned that heavy rainfall and strong gusts remained a threat in the southeastern United States, particularly near the southern Appalachians, with isolated flash flooding possible.

The weather could topple trees and power lines and cause scattered electricity outages. Dangerous surf and potentially deadly rip currents were expected to persist along the Gulf and southeastern Atlantic coasts.
