Burundi agrees to accept US deportees from other countries, with conditions

Burundi has agreed to receive migrants from other countries who are deported from the United States under Donald Trump’s immigration policy, joining several other African nations.

Nancy Ninette Mutoni, spokesperson for President Évariste Ndayishimiye, said Burundi would accept only people who face no accusations of criminal activity or ties to terrorism.

The announcement on Tuesday did not specify how many people Burundi would receive, when arrivals would begin or any financial terms.
